The largest flawless pink diamond is to be auctioned by Sotheby's, Geneva in November, 2013. The estimated price is record-breaking $60 mln.
"Pink Star" is 59.60 ca oval-shaped pink diamond. It was mined in Africa, cut and polished by Steinmetz Diamonds and first exhibited in Monaco in 2003. Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC included "Pink Star" in its exhibition of the rarest gemstones alongside Millenium Star and Allnatt Diamond. Sotheby's David Bennett says the diamond belongs in "the ranks of the earth's greatest natural treasures".
